Assessing Your Site
Can I use wind energy to power my home or business? This question is being asked across the country as more people look for affordable and reliable sources of electricity. It is recommended that you hire a certified assessor to evaluate and assess your site. Wind energy systems are not one size fits all; there are many critical factors in getting the maximum production from a wind system such as: appropriate system size, adequate tower height and proper tower siting.

If you feel comfortable doing your own site assessment Wind Power Services LLC has compiled basic information resources as a guide to assessing your site. To thoroughly assess your site you will need to research your site specifics in detail and study all recommended reading materials and other wind energy resources available to you. This is a basic get you started compilation.

• Education, Education, Education - Learning and understanding everything you can about wind energy and wind systems will be the key to optimizing the wind as a power source. Knowing the terms and technology will benefit you in accurately self assessing your site and planning your wind system project.

From our recommended reading list we suggest “WINDLETTER” The monthly news letter of the American Wind Energy Association - Small Turbine Column Authored by Mick Sagrillo, Sagrillo Power & Light.
Mick is a founding member of the MREA (Midwest Renewable Energy Association) and has served as the President of the organization since 1991. As the founder and former owner of Lake Michigan Wind and Sun, Mick has been involved with over 700 wind system installations. Mick teaches wind energy courses nationally and internationally. Wind Power Services LLC staff is honored to have attended numerous seminars and workshops instructed by Mick Sagrillo.  Written by a true wind energy guru you will find Mick’s writings informational and educational with a touch of down to earth humor.
