A careful wind survey should be made before buying a wind system. Wind turbine owners who buy without careful consideration are frequently disappointed in their system's performance. While this is most likely not the system itself that underperforms, but the wind speeds that were under or over estimated that causes the system not to perform to its power potential.
At the going price for a complete wind turbine installation, it makes economic sense to first thoroughly check out your wind resource.
A site assessment will provide you with an accurate estimate and can more than pay for its self in site specific information, but with the potential cost of purchasing and installing a wind electric system some home and business owners prefer to invest in wind speed monitoring equipment such as an anemometer.
While it is necessary to have an idea of your annual average wind speed and wind directions you DO NOT NEED an exact measurement for a home or business size system. The expense of an anemometer is solely at the land owner’s discretion.
It is however recommended to install an anemometer on your tower when installing a wind energy system. This allows you to frequently check on the output performance of your wind turbine and monitor variances that may indicate a need for repair or maintenance.
Wind Power Services LLC has the anemometer knowledge and experience needed to guide you through the installation process. Don’t feel comfortable doing it your self we will install it for you. If you would like more information about anemometers or to request our service please Contact Us. |
